Change up your workouts!

Looking for new ways to workout this year, so you can get out of that boring rut? We thought so, your not the only one who needs to change it up, we all get “workout block” from time to time.

Volunteer
Offer to walk dogs for the local shelter, burning calories doesn’t always have to be the main motivation. I know the staff at The Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center would be more than grateful for the help. In addition, it’s not just cardio, you will be working your upper body and core as well, trying to keep control of your new fury friends.

Trail Running
As with most runners, we have a few set paths, some longer some shorter. Change it up to running on a trail. With each step, you will have to maintain balance, and adapt to the textured, uneven terrain. You will engage your aerobic and anaerobic energy systems at the same time. (More burn, less time, and distance for you!)

Fitness Scavenger Hunt
This is a great way to get outside and completely switch up your routine! Also great with a friend or a group.

Map out your route, and choose a few landmarks; benches, fire hydrants, cars, two story houses etc. Then pair a few body weight exercises with them. (Push-ups, burpees, mountain climbers and jump squats are the first that come to mind)

Start your route, when you come across one of your landmarks, pair it with a chosen exercise. This will keep your mind in the present, focused, while making time fly, and reducing stress!
